CPE COURSE: Worker’s Misclassification & Wage Theft: What Accountants, Controllers and CFO’s Need to Know

Employees cannot afford to be out of compliance with regulatory guidance pertaining to worker classifications. Government lawyers and attorneys representing employees are more aggressive than ever. On October 2nd at 8:00am, the Maryland Association of CPA’s, along with Pessin Katz Law and Hertzbach & Company, will host an informative CPE training seminar on “Worker’s Misclassification and Wage Theft” in their Towson office located at 901 Dulaney Valley Road, Suite 710, Towson, MD 21204.

Join Pessin Katz Law attorneys Leslie Stellman, Ed O’Meally and Gregory Weiner, along with Rivka Bier from Hertzbach & Company, and Joan Vines with BDO, for an in-depth look at the topics of IRS guidance, financial/legal risks of non-compliance, favorable settlement programs, and how to mitigate the risks associated with worker misclassification and nonpayment of overtime.

This CPE training seminar is designed for accountants, payroll personal, controllers, CFO’s, business owners and attorneys. Participants of this seminar will have an understanding of government rules applied to determine who are employees, who are independent contractors, and when employers are obligated to pay overtime wages. They will then be better able to assess risk exposure, and be familiar with relief programs available under IRS guidelines. The seminar will count for four (4) CPE training credits.

To register for this seminar or if you have questions, please call The Maryland Association of CPA’s at (410) 296-6250.
